Provides an introduction to programming targeted for biologists. Covers the practical side of programming that is necessary for conducting research, including primers to analysis of genomic data using R and Python programming. The class typically consists of a short introduction to programming techniques and associated biological problems, followed by hands-on computing exercises. One of two core courses in the Computational Biology, Bioinformatics and Genomics (CBBG) concentration area within UMD’s Biological Sciences Graduate Program (BISI).
